Animal Care Training Course
Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital, near Aylesbury, is a City & Guilds approved training centre for the NVQ level 2 in Animal Care training course. They can offer a unique hands-on route to gaining your qualification, working with all species of British wildlife.
In addition to the NVQ level 2 in Animal Care, you would complete a one day First Aid course and gain key skills at level 1 in Communication, Application of Number, Working With Others and Improving Own Learning And Performance.
The combination of a nationally recognised qualification and the experience of working hands-on with wildlife at a world-leading centre can open all sorts of career opportunities or routes into further education that you might not have thought open to you previously. Students from Tiggywinkles have gone on to work in kennels, catteries, pet shops, animal rehoming centres and wildlife centres. Some students go on to Veterinary Nurse training. Some go on to college or university to study animal management, conservation or degree courses. Over 85% of recent graduates from Tiggywinkles are working or studying in the animal care industry.
16 to 24 years?
The NVQ course at Tiggywinkles is full time and includes regular weekend and evening shifts, giving all students the opportunity to gain valuable experience with all aspects of wildlife care.
If you are between 16 and 24, Tiggywinkles, in partnership with ATG, can offer a 6-month Apprenticeship course, which is fully funded by the government. The Apprenticeship involves working hands on with wildlife at the world’s leading wildlife hospital and students gain NVQ level 2 in Animal Care, along with Key Skills qualifications.
All courses are full time and run throughout the year. As a working hospital they do not run term time only, so the courses run straight through from when you start. The courses are not residential, so you will need to live locally (or rent locally at your own expense).
There are start dates throughout the year and places are currently available, so apply today!
Application forms can be obtained from ATG Training or downloaded here.
If you need help or advice our knowledable and friendly customer service team will be pleased to answer any questions you may have.
