Company Profile

ATG Training was founded as Aylesbury Industrial Training Group in 1967 by a consortium of engineering companies as a Group Training Association through which to train engineering apprentices across Buckinghamshire. As the company evolved, it became a registered charity and broadened its base of activities to include a wide range of vocational training activities.

Today ATG Training is one of the largest independent training providers in the Thames Valley and at any one time has up to 1000 trainees being trained and assessed in both work-based learning programmes and at its specialised training centres in Aylesbury and Manchester.

ATG Training offers training in traditional engineering, electrical, electronics and computer-based subjects, as well as in service-based occupations such as health and safety, child care, customer service, logistics and business administration. We are also able to provide a wide range of management development programmes. A particular area of specialist expertise is in the training of bicycle mechanics, where ATG is the leading national provider, working closely with the relevant industry bodies and major suppliers such as Halfords and Madison.

ATG Training possesses a 40-year track record of working closely with employers to deliver high quality vocational training, tailored closely to their needs. ATG is a leading provider of training for the Learning and Skills Council and works closely with all the major awarding bodies for vocational skills.

ATG has developed recognised Centres of Vocational Excellence in subjects such as engineering practice and productivity, and bicycle maintenance. It has recently opened a major new 33,000 sq. ft. training facility in Aylesbury containing 11 modern classrooms and IT rooms, state-of-the-art CAD/CAM facilities, rapid prototyping and 5-axis machine tools.

The organisation’s philosophy has remained constant over the last four decades: to develop training based on the real-world needs of employers, delivered in a structured and disciplined environment. ATG has trained many thousands of apprentices and employees, many of whom have subsequently sent their own staff for training, further enhancing ATG’s growing national reputation.
