Why should my business hire an apprentice?

Because it makes good business sense. Skills shortages are still one of the biggest threats to UK business. Apprenticeships can help businesses across all industries by offering a route to harness fresh talent. If you have trained staff with the right skills for the job they can do a wider range of tasks and take on new responsibilities – this can help to reduce skill shortages, minimise staff turnover and workplace accidents, and increase productivity.

Taking on an apprentice is cost effective because your people can learn while they’re on the job and the government contributes to the cost of learning

What are Apprenticeships?

They are work-based training programmes designed around the needs of employers, which lead to national recognised qualifications.

Who are they for?

You can use Apprenticeships to train both new and existing employees. ATG Training is expert in securing funding to train apprentices. The amount is dependent on a number of factors, so call 0845 894 9530 for information on your own particular needs.

Who runs them?

Apprenticeships are designed by the Sector Skills Councils, while the National Apprenticeship Service helps to fund the training.

How are Apprenticeships developed?

Business representatives from the relevant industry sector work with the Sector Skills Councils to develop the course content. Because they genuinely understand your business, the training will be relevant for your industry.

Where do they take place?

This is up to you. Most of the training is ‘on the job’ at your premises. The rest can be provided by ATG Training.
