ATG Training Board of Trustees
ATG is both a registered charity and a limited company and its constitution, governing document, is its Memorandum and Articles of Association, which has been updated recently with advice from Charity Law solicitors.
ATG is led by a Board of Trustees which collectively ensures delivery of its objects (the purposes for which it was set up); sets its strategic direction and upholds its values. The Board of Trustees have ultimate authority, responsibility and accountability for ATG.
The ATG Board currently consists of six trustees all of whom are or have been chief executives or directors of their companies. The trustees work for ATG on a voluntary basis and receive no remuneration. We shall be recruiting additional trustees during the course of the year to increase diversity and widen the skills base of the board.
The main functions of the Board of Trustees are:
- To ensure compliance with the purposes and values of ATG
- To ensure the solvency, financial strength and good performance of ATG
- To set the strategic direction of ATG and to avoid involvement in operational matters
- To approve policies, plans and budgets and to monitor performance against them
- To ensure compliance with charity law and company law
- To set and maintain a framework of delegation and internal control
- To regularly review the risks to which ATG is subject and to take action to mitigate risks identified
- To appoint (and if necessary dismiss) the Chief Executive
- To ensure that ATG upholds and promotes the principles of equality and diversity in all of its activities
Key responsibilities of the Chairman of the Trustees:
- To provide leadership to the board and to ensure that trustees fulfil their duties and responsibilities
- To support, and where appropriate, to challenge the chief executive and to ensure that the board works in partnership with the executive
