Advanced Wheel Building

Qualification Summary

A wheel is the simplest machine in the world, right?
Not any more!

The design and materials used in cycle wheels is changing every day. Factory wheel sets include metals, composite materials, tubeless technologies and various manufacturing methods to make them as light and strong as possible. But it’s not cheap and anyone working on these wheels needs to ensure they understand what they are working on.
For many people there is nothing to compare with a skilled craftsman hand building a wheel. In the right hands it becomes a work of art. We can show you how to create it if you have the desire and patience.

Who Should Participate?

Experienced wheel builders wanting to further their knowledge of factory wheel sets and refine their wheel building skills. You should be able to calculate spoke lengths and build a 3 or 4 cross wheel in symmetrical or asymmetrical patterns.
