Apprenticeships & Funded Cycle Courses

Some of the qualifications we offer may be eligible for some subsidy by the Skills Funding Agency (SFA). They generally fall into two categories; the full apprenticeship programme or the NVQ only.

The quick guide below will explain the composition of each qualification.

Apprenticeship

Who is it for?

Anyone working as a mechanic who wants to gain training and qualifications to use during their working life.

What is included?

  • Certificate of Cycle Maintenance (often referred to as a Technical Certificate, this is the specific, hands on training in Cycle Maintenance)
  • Cytech Technical Two  and DT Swiss wheel building training
NVQ 2 in Cycle Maintenance (This delivers a solid grounding in engineering principles and working practices)
  • Keyskills level 1 or 2.
  • Employment Responsibilities and Rights

Advanced Apprenticeship

Who is it for?

Cycle mechanics that have completed the Apprenticeship and want to increase their skills, technical knowledge and obtain a high level qualification.

What is included?

  • Diploma of Cycle Maintenance
  • Cytech Technical Three training (3 courses)
  • NVQ 3 in Cycle Maintenance
  • Keyskills at a minimum of level 2

So, what will it all cost?

Subsidy or funding may be available and if this is the case we will be happy to guide you through the application process. In most cases the subsidy will go a long way towards meeting the cost of your training and qualification; however we are expected to gain commitment from your employer in the form of a contribution to the overall cost of delivering, assessing and certificating a learner.

Special offer

In support of the Government promotion of apprenticeships ATG Training are able to offer a short term reduction in the employer contribution until 29th February 2012.

We are as transparent as possible with our finances; as a registered charity you can rest assured that any surplus we make is put directly back into the Cycle Academy to benefit both individuals and the wider industry.

For all of these courses eligibility checks and an application must be carried out to make sure the course is suitable for you.
