The Cytech technical level three suspension module is aimed at individuals with a knowledge of mountain bikes who are new to suspension servicing and want a deeper understanding of forks, rear shocks and hydraulic dropper posts.
The Cytech technical level three suspension module covers service work that could reasonably be expected to be performed in a well-equipped cycle workshop and is meant so that on completion of the course those attending will be more confident as to what jobs they can undertake and be familiar with the basic theory, terminology, troubleshooting, servicing and set up of suspension. The course has been designed as an overview of how suspension works using common spring and damper design and to get the most from this course it is recommended that those attending apply this knowledge to the different brands of suspension currently available when they return to their own workshops.
The l3 suspension course is suitable for those with experience of riding mountain bikes with suspension and dropper seatposts on and those who work in shops that sell mountain bikes
It is suitable for those with a Cytech l2 qualification or as a guide, 3-4 years industry knowledge
It is suitable for those who are nervous about taking suspension apart and servicing it
It is suitable for those who are familiar with basic service procedures such as lower leg servicing and air can servicing
The suspension module is not suitable for those with no experience of mountain bikes or shops that do not stock mountain bikes, as the attendee will not get the future experience of servicing suspension in the workshop on completion of the course to keep the knowledge learned valid
Those who do not hold a Cytech l2 qualification or with less than 3 years industry experience
Those looking for more complex brand specific servicing such as nitrogen charging, vacuum bleeding and rear shock shim tuning
Those with at least 1-2 years of suspension servicing who have received manufacturer training in company and regularly service suspension
Future experience on top of this course (gained in company and from manufacturer training courses) is reasonably expected for those completing the l3 suspension course due to the vast nature of brand specific product and the continuous changes and developments that are being made to suspension
